1 Year!!!

Well, it’s hard to believe that we’ve been living this lifestyle for one year now! From our quiet little Swanwick backwater up the river Hamble to Fort Lauderdale USA! From pottering about in the Solent to travelling down the coast of western Europe across to the Canaries (2011 miles), Cape Verdes (another 1000miles) and then Crossing the Atlantic Ocean (another 2100 miles) And travelling up through the Carribean to the Eastern Seaboard of Florida (a total of nearly 7000 miles, all in a year, it really seems to have flown.

We have learnt so much – about our boat, each other and the world.

We have experienced weather in all its forms – from stunning sunrises and sunsets to shimmering flat seas to 40 knots in the middle of the Atlantic to a ghostly and totally foggy Chenal de Four.  We’ve had thousands of feet beneath us and then sailed in the shallow turquoise waters of the Bahamas with less than 8 feet beneath us.

We have enjoyed so much – from beautiful scenery to beautiful people and lifelong new friends.

We’ve lost weight without trying! Drunk far too much.  Eaten some weird and wonderful things – and not so wonderful (Google Goose Barnacles).

We’ve seen Dolphins, False Killer Whales, Flying Fish, Barracuda, Tuna and Mahi Mahi (both of which we caught and ate yum), Turtles, Seals, Boobies (pause for sniggering), Frigate Birds, Pelicans, Iguanas, Curly Tailed Lizards, Raccoons and of course the Ducklings…….

We’ve gained a lovely new Goddaughter – happy 21st Charlotte xx

We miss all our family and friends back at home and couldn’t do this without their support and our trips back to see them.

We can’t wait for this 2nd year with our planned trips up the East Coast of the States and then a long spell back in the Bahamas when hopefully some of them will be flying out to visit us.

Was it the right decision – OF COURSE IT WAS! WE LOVE IT!!!
